Radiation & Medical Oncologists
Our nationally board certified Radiation Oncologists, Dr. Thomas Comerford, Dr. Linyee Chang and Dr. Russ Omizo, work along with our board certified Medical Oncologists, Dr. Bill Martin, Dr. Stephen Kornfeld, Dr. Robert Boone and Dr. Cora Calomeni to provide comprehensive care at the St. Charles Cancer Care Program. The combined medical expertise of these physicians' high standards and caring natures have endeared them to cancer patients in Central and Eastern Oregon for many years. All of us – patients and staff alike – are proud to be on their team.
Cancer is best tackled from a blend of approaches. For that reason, Drs. Comerford, Chang, Omizo, Martin, Kornfeld, Boone and Calomeni work together with a multi-disciplinary team of surgeons, pathologists, oncologists, diagnostic radiologists, radiation therapists, dosimestrists, medical physicists, oncology nurses, nutritionists, case managers, social workers, educators, physical and occupational therapists, spiritual care staff, and others to make certain each patient is given the best possible care.
Communication is a key element in successful partnerships, so our doctors participate in Cancer Conference (also known as "Tumor Board ") each week to review cases. Cancer Conference is valuable because of the amount of input and oversight each case is given, while educating physicians and other staff in attendance. This conference is held weekly at the Bend campus and is available to the Redmond physicians by videoconferencing.
In addition, our doctors are part of The St. Charles Cancer Committee which is the leadership group responsible for goal setting, planning, implementing, evaluating and improving all cancer-related activities in the St. Charles Health System. The Cancer Committee meets every other month to complete the administrative responsibilities related to cancer program leadership.
