Mountain View Hospital Transitions Long-Term Care Services to East Cascade
Mountain View Hospital (MVH) plans to complete the transition of their long-term care services to East Cascade, located in Madras by the end of February 2010. This endeavor began in January 2008 and has been an extensive process, but will allow long-term care services to remain in the Madras community. Long-term care includes medical and non-medical services for people with disabilities or chronic illnesses who cannot care for themselves over an extended period of time.
East Cascade has agreed to consider and provide employment opportunities for the MVH Living Center caregivers once the transition of services is complete. The goal is to create a smooth transition for the residents allowing them to maintain relationships with the same familiar caregivers when possible
Due to the transition of long-term care services to East Cascade, MVH will experience minimal reduction of staffing hours. To accommodate the staffing adjustments, there will also be process improvements and shift modifications implemented.
According to the Hospital CEO, Eric Buckland, “The reduction of staffing hours will in no way impact patient care or safety.”
Caregivers who will be affected by this change will have the opportunity to be considered for other positions throughout MVH or additional shifts at East Cascade. “Our goal is to continue to provide an excellent work environment along with providing high quality long-term care services while we work with our residents, their families and our caregivers to make a comfortable transition,” noted Buckland.
