Our guiding principles

Goal: To create an environment where we can deliver safe patient care with the capacity to admit patients to the appropriate level of care. 

  1. Safety is our key priority
  2. Decisions will be driven by consensus of the team.  Voices will be heard and expertize leveraged.  No one voice will rule the majority.
  3. The new tower will have sufficient space and the space we will have will be adequate
  4. Patient transport will be safe
  5. Patients should reside at the level of acuity intended to receive the optimal treatment
  6. Will use current standard process for equipment purchase (VAT, EVAT)
  7. St. Charles Hospital- Bend will have inpatient room admission 99% of the time
  8. All rooms will be private rooms and will meet OAR standards
  9. Reduce non-value space
  10. Right space for right work that is universal if any process or demands change
  11. Infection prevention should be proactive with design and guided by best practice and governing agencies (CDC, JC, CMS, OHA, etc.)
  12. Materials at the point of use with concept from dock to fingertips, without excessive use of storage
  13. Cell design will allow flexibility and adaptability for the patient
  14. Build tents, not castles
  15. Create line of site for the ICU care teams along with maximized line of site to the head of patient
  16. Facility design supports interdisciplinary teams and will seek input as often as necessary from the clinical experts
  17. Transparency of negotiable and non-negotiable topics will be discussed
