SCHS asks that all visitors be in good health when visiting patients
In light of the H1N1 influenza, also known as the swine flu, St. Charles Health System would like to take this opportunity to remind guests to be in good health when visiting family and friends in the hospital.
Dr. Alan Ertle, senior vice president of medical affairs, says this is always the recommendation.
"This is a good chance to remind people to use common sense. President Obama gave practical advice regarding prevention of flu for everyone in his speech on Wednesday. We are simply taking this chance to remind people of the importance of protecting patients in our hospitals and facilities," Ertle said. "Many patients have a compromised immune system and just cannot fight off illness.
"Visitors should always think about their friends and relatives and the other patients when the come to the hospital," Ertle said. "If you are feeling ill you should not plan to visit anyone in the hospital. This includes even if you just have a common cold."
