Intermediate Care Unit
When You're Well Enough to Leave Our ICU
If, after surgery or a critical medical event, you'd still benefit from intensive nursing care, we'll transfer to our Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU). There, we do everything possible to continue the healing process.
As a "step-down" unit, our highly specialized team of physicians, registered nurses, respiratory therapists and other clinicians provide care for patients who need:
- Heart (cardiac) monitoring
- Percutaneous coronary intervention, such as angioplasty and stenting
- Post general surgery and other acute medical care monitoring
- Post open-heart surgery recovery and discharge
- Pulmonary care

Visiting Guidelines
We know that family and friends play an important role in the healing process, so we welcome visitors. The guidelines suggested for ICU visits apply to IMCU visits as well.
