FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
June 12, 2017
MADRAS, Ore. - The media are invited to get a first look at the most recently completed phase of the St. Charles Madras expansion and remodel—including the new Emergency Department, operating suite and Imaging department—on Thursday, June 15, at 11 a.m. Please plan to meet at the new Emergency Department entrance at the northeast corner of the hospital.
These new areas of the hospital will officially open for service on Sunday, June 18.
The east entrance to the Emergency Department will close at 6 a.m. that day. Any person entering prior to this time will be seen and treated. Those presenting for emergency treatment after 6 a.m. should go to the new Emergency Department entrance at the northeast corner of the hospital. Signage will be changed at that time to indicate the new entrance. Staff will also be on hand to assist with directions and questions.
Laboring mothers, as well as those who are scheduled for surgery or to be admitted to the hospital, should also access the hospital at the Emergency Department entrance.
During the week, from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., visitors and those who need access to laboratory services, imaging services (including ultrasound, CT, X-ray, mammogram, Echo or MRI), Rehab and other outpatient services should enter at the Rehab entrance. Evenings (after 6 p.m.) and on the weekends, all services should be accessed through the Emergency Department entrance. These plans are temporary until the entire project is complete later this year.
The expanded and enhanced Emergency Department encompasses 14 points of care including a new patient check-in and waiting area, a two-patient trauma room, a large exam room capable of caring for two patients, a flex room with an in-room shower and restroom for extended Emergency Department stays or caring for two patients, an enhanced triage room and eight exam rooms. The new surgical suite includes two new operating rooms, a new procedure room and four new prep/recovery rooms. The new Imaging department includes a CT room, two x-ray rooms, ultrasound, mammography and echo/EKG.
The remaining construction in phase three will open this fall and will include an expanded laboratory located within the hospital, a central registration and waiting area servicing all areas except rehabilitation and ED, and an enhanced hospital entrance and parking.
St. Charles Health System is committed to honoring the promise of expanded services for the Madras and Warm Springs community made during the transition from Mountain View Hospital to St. Charles Madras.
