Walking for Wellness June 2017
WALKING FOR WELLNESS: A gentle, fun introduction to fitness. Learn good walking & stretching techniques while making new friends.
This walking series is a great way to ease back into fitness, restore health and build endurance. Exercising during cancer treatment has been found to increase energy and aid in healing.
FootZone and St. Charles invite cancer survivors and their family members to regain their fitness through the gentle exercise of walking. We meet and slowly increase the amount of time we spend walking over 7 weeks, from about 20 minutes up to a 5k. All walking levels welcome - we have people to support you even if you can only walk for 10-15 minutes.
Led by Michelle Poirot of FootZone, all classes meet Saturdays at 10:00 a.m. June 24th through July 29th. The first class meets at the Footzone in downtown Bend, then at various locations. Instructor will email participants weekly on where to meet.
Wear comfortable clothing and bring a water bottle. We ask that you leave your dog at home, but you’re welcome to invite a companion. A visit to one of the local coffee shops as a group after the walk has become a favorite tradition. Enjoy walking, improved fitness, coffee and camaraderie.
