Why choose hospice?

Starting hospice care early can provide greater comfort and support for both the patient and their family/caregivers:

  • Provides services to existing support in the home, allowing patients to spend more quality time with loved ones.
  • Provides care in a familiar home environment or contracted facilities such as Hospice House.
  • Access to respite care or general inpatient through contracted facilities.
  • Access to St. Charles Blossom Project, which enables our caregivers to bring fresh flowers to our patients.
  • 24/7 triage nurse availability.
  • Offers bereavement support.

Who is eligible for hospice?

Hospice care is for people facing a serious illness when the focus shifts from curing the disease to living as comfortably and fully as possible. A patient may be eligible when a physician determines that life expectancy is likely six months or less if the illness runs its normal course. Hospice care surrounds patients and their loved ones with compassionate support — managing pain and symptoms, honoring personal wishes, and offering emotional, spiritual and practical guidance so no one has to walk this journey alone.

Quality hospice for anyone in need

Concerns about the cost of hospice should never prevent you or your loved ones from receiving care. St. Charles Hospice Care provides hospice for anyone who needs it. The services are covered by Medicare, Medicaid and private and commercial insurance. We’re also supported by community donations.
