Critical Care Services

Critical care services feature high-level multi-specialty trauma teams, an advanced cardiothoracic program and a Gold Plus stroke center that provide patient-centered care to a service area covering 38,000 square miles. Providing state-of-the art care, our critical care departments also include intensive care units, an intermediate care unit, a progressive care unit and critical care float teams.

Perioperative Services

Perioperative and cardiovascular services comprise a variety of departments including medical diagnostics, operating rooms, a short stay unit, peri- and post-anesthesia, pre-surgery, and cardiac catheterization, electrophysiology and interventional radiology labs. These teams provide specialized care to patients throughout their surgical and procedural experience. As an organization, St. Charles is committed to incorporating advanced, minimally invasive surgical methods into our practices.

Acute Care Services

Acute care services includes our medical, surgical, orthopedic, neurologic, behavioral health and medical surgical float teams. Expert care is provided across the continuum as our patients rely on us to meet them wherever they are on the spectrum of health. We are a Joint Commission-designated Stroke Center of Excellence and carry the distinction of being a designated MBSAQIP-accredited bariatric surgery center. We provide inpatient rehabilitation services with a team of dedicated caregivers to help move patients forward in their journey to better health.

Women and Children’s Services

Our St. Charles Bend and St. Charles Madras Family Birthing Centers follow breast feeding-friendly guidelines. In our Family Birthing Centers, patients are cared for by a dedicated care team of specially trained nurses, OB providers, certified nurse midwives and certified lactation nurses. We are committed to giving babies the best possible start in life through the promotion and education of breast feeding and mother/infant bonding.

Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit:

As the only Level III NICU in our 38,000-square mile service area, we provide expert care for fragile newborns from our Family Birthing Centers as well as babies transferred from hospitals across Central and Eastern Oregon.

Emergency Department

Our Emergency departments provide 24/7 specialized care to patients during their emergency visit through discharge or hospitalization. St. Charles Bend is a Level II Trauma Center, which serves as our regional trauma center and the only trauma center east of Oregon’s Cascade Mountains. The Emergency Departments at St. Charles Redmond, St. Charles Prineville and St. Charles Madras serve surrounding communities as Level IV Trauma Centers.
